How it became one of the most sustainable hotel in Wales.
Wales’ first contemporary art hotel, nestled in Britain’s smallest city St. Davids, the Twr y Felin Hotel has been awarded a Green Key award. This is the leading standard of excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operations within the tourism industry.
It also means that guests can be assured that they are helping to make a difference to the environment and sustainability by opting to stay at the hotel.
At Hotel Perfect, we have been working alongside Twr y Felin and the wider Retreats Group to help them become more sustainable in their day-to-day operations.
As part of our Cloud PMS system, the hotel has adopted our housekeeping app which allows the front desk team and housekeeping to communicate using mobile devices and instantly update room status and guest requests. This means that this entire process can go completely paper-free. As well as being more effective and efficient, this is now a sustainable hotel operation.
On top of this, Twr y Felin has adopted the Hotel Perfect Lounge Check-In App, used on tablets inside the rooms, used to complete arrival forms and take signatures. Not only does this reduce paper-use, but also enhances the guest experience by reducing the time spent at the front desk.
This is not the first time the Retreats Group have been recognized for their outstanding contribution to the community, at the IHS Awards in October, Group General Manager Paula Ellis, was recently recognized as the UK Independent Hotelier of the Year 2019.
After winning the award Paula stated: “I am delighted to be crowned UK Independent Hotelier of the Year 2019, which is a true recognition of the hard work of my collegues and industry partners such as Hotel Perfect. Being the first female general manager and the only Welsh person, demonstrates that my peers really do value my achievements and this award will provide me with the platform to inspire young women in Wales and elsewhere to pursue a career in hospitality.”
The annual award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the independent hotel sector, and is recognised for excellence, with a reputation for pushing boundaries and creating exceptional guest experiences.
Just the ethos that we advocate at Hotel Perfect.
The Retreats Group have continued to demonstrate their excellence in the field; having recently secured Best Hotel for Twr y Felin, Penrhiw Priory for Best BB and its restaurant ‘Blas’ being awarded Best Restaurant at the 2019 Pembrokeshire Tourism Awards. Twr y Felin were also voted by a public vote, the Best Small and Exclusive Hotel in UK and Ireland for 2020 in the Conde Nast Awards.
