To help explain why our Housekeeping App is the answer, meet Mandy …….
Mandy is a Room Attendant at a beautiful 4 star country house hotel, Perfect Manor. Perfect Manor has 65 beautifully decorated rooms, each with their own unique charms…how difficult they can be to make pristine every day is NOT one of those charms. Mandy takes great pride in her work and along with the rest of the team they delight guests every day with immaculately prepared rooms to enjoy during their travels.
The Housekeeping team’s job starts at 8am when they meet at the Head Housekeeper’s Office to pick up their individual arrival/departures lists (usually adorned with a series of lines and notes as things have changed since the list got printed a few hours before).
Mandy starts on the rooms in the order the list says and by 8:30am she’s finished the first two stay overs of the day. She then sees Kelly from Reception walking towards her looking a little frantic, Kelly wants to know if Mr & Mrs Ross’s room has been cleaned. They are on their way back from Breakfast and requested the night before that their room is serviced during Breakfast so they can spend the morning enjoying their own mini chess tournament in the room. Their room was prioritised and their request was noted on the A/D list so yes, that was the first room Mandy went to. Relieved, Kelly raced the 2 corridors and 3 flights of stairs back to Reception to let the couple know. Mandy thought that a radio would have been a better way to have had that brief conversation, but they were so bulky and noisy that the hotel had gotten rid of them a few years ago.
During the rest of her shift, Mandy had to walk down to Reception nine more times, twice to report a maintenance fault, four times to ask who had departed already, three times to update Reception on which rooms had been serviced and once to find out how a room needed to be setup.
Mandy is a bit of a health advocate and wears a step tracker every day. Today she has clocked up over 15,000 steps and its only mid-afternoon. There weren’t too many rooms to service today which is why she’s finishing at 2pm, normally it would be much later, especially if she has to walk back to the Front Desk what feels like a hundred times in one day. If only Housekeeping and Reception had a way to easily and quietly communicate, Mandy wouldn’t need to spend a chunk of her shift walking around and Kelly would have been able to give Mr & Mrs Ross a status update on their room without leaving her desk or making them wait.
This is a common day for a Hotel Room Attendant, but we believe that our new Housekeeping App can make people like Mandy and Kelly’s days a little easier. If Perfect Manor had invested in the Housekeeping App, Kelly wouldn’t have had to walk to see Mandy about the rooms as Mandy would have updated the Ross’s room status to ‘clean’ on her mobile (which she always carries in her pocket) so that Kelly could see the status at Reception. Mandy wouldn’t have had to go to Reception to log maintenance faults or ask how rooms are to be setup or which rooms she can clean as this would all be visible and updatable from her mobile.
