The Edgemoor Hotel started its life in 1870 as the Bovey Tracey Grammar School, but gained a new lease of life as a family-run hotel after an elaborate renovation. Holding 17 uniquely styled rooms within the elegant country hotel, the Edgemoor features an eclectic mix of classic and contemporary styling.

The Edgemoor also holds conferences and weddings, with several options to choose from.  The Outdoor Pavilion, Lower Down Suite, or Library Restaurant all offer a chic country setting for ceremonies, with a traditional twist. The Edgemoor Hotel also offers a choice of eateries, whether it’s the restaurant for dinner, the gym bar for a light bite or the old school rooms for afternoon or cream teas, guests always have options. The Edgemoor also offers themed nights such as Murder Mystery Dinner’s, attracting people from afar to join them for a thrilling evening of playing detective.

Client’s Vision

The Edgemoor had previously been operating the Hotel Perfect Version 4 Property Management System (PMS) but were looking to upgrade to the Version 5 cloud-based hotel system mainly for the added security and on-going low cost.

The Edgemoor wanted to implement a way of controlling prices across the various Online Travel Agents (OTA’s) that it uses, as well as having an all-in-one hotel system that could automatically adjust bedroom prices dependent on availability.

Another important factor was to have a hospitality management system that could manage events successfully and could store other relevant bits and pieces of information.

What We Delivered

When the Edgemoor decided to upgrade they opted to install the Hotel Perfect Version 5 cloud-based PMS, meaning that the hotel’s performance information is now available to the owners at any time, on the go. If the owners leave the business behind and travel somewhere, they can still closely monitor the figures easily on a laptop or tablet with an easy to use PMS interface.

The Hotel Perfect installation team also implemented Dynamic Pricing and a Channel Management system to ensure that the hotel reservation software can update prices based on availability. The hotel management software connects to the OTA’s and communicates these price changes whenever they occur. This saves huge amounts of time for the Edgemoor team who previously had to manually input prices. Now, management is free to focus on customer service etc., rather than worrying about calculating and adjusting prices.

The Edgemoor hosts lots of weddings every year and so the Hotel Perfect integrated hotel management software allows the Edgemoor team to store all of the key documents such as seating plans, menus etc., in one simple and easy to use system. The Edgemoor have been really successful in learning all of the PMS software’s abilities, and both the software and the team have improved on front and back of house operations.
