The Castle Hotel in Taunton is truly a spectacular venue, with over 1000 years worth of history held in its walls. The Castle originally began life as a Norman fortress and has been used as a haven for travellers since the 12th century, making it an extremely interesting and popular landmark in Taunton.
Unsurprisingly, The Castle is extremely in demand for weddings as the bride and groom can have a lavish ceremony surrounded by stunning countryside. Additionally, there are two restaurants, a number of event rooms for functions and conferences as well as 44 bedrooms, all with their own totally unique style, meaning every stay will be completely different.
The Castle Hotel had experienced difficulties with their previous Property Management System (PMS) and Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS) system as they found they couldn’t keep up with demand. The Castle’s large and thriving food and beverage business needed software that could manage the demand more efficiently with impeccable speed of service, as well as interface with the Hotel’s PMS in order to ensure guests had a silky experience whatever their requirements.
The Castle also wanted a PMS provider that was able to offer support and be regularly involved in refining their business processes.
What We Delivered
The Hotel Perfect engineers and installation team had to work together quickly as the previous PMS software providers allocated deadlines. The trainers and engineers were able to give the Castle Hotel a successful hotel management system installation and all data was inputted at once.
The Castle Hotel opted to install the Version 5 cloud-based PMS which allows for even greater flexibility in the running of the business. The Castle can now access hotel statistics from anywhere in the world, meaning there’s no waiting for weekly reports as the cloud-based all-in-one hotel management system keeps them up to date in one user-friendly interface.
The Castle also chose to install a call logging module to enable the Hotel Perfect Cloud-Based PMS to add charges onto bedroom bills easily and automatically. Another important upgrade for the hotel was the Online Booking manager which saw the Hotel Perfect engineers seamlessly integrate the online hotel reservation software into the existing website.
The Castle also wanted to save their team members time and so chose to implement the Hotel Perfect Channel Management system and Dynamic Pricing module. Team members don’t have to worry about manually updating bedroom prices on The Castle’s own website or the Online Travel Agents (OTA’s) that it uses, as it’s now an automatic process. Dynamic pricing allows fluctuations to be made instantly dependent on bedroom availability and the channel management system then updates these prices with the OTA’s.
A guest messaging system was also installed to allow for easy and timely communications with guests, whether pre-arrival or post-departure. The PMS now also includes events and restaurant modules that have made the process of planning dinners and events streamlined and simple—creating maximum effect with minimal effort. For The Castle, the Hotel Perfect Electronic Point of Sale (EPoS) feature was a must as the previous provider’s EPoS System offering couldn’t keep up with demand which caused problems and hold ups – an unwelcome development at busy times! Now, the billing for food, drinks or any other items are conducted swiftly and efficiently through the PMS and EPoS system, whilst making the guest experience incredibly smooth and much more enjoyable than it previously was.
